Our Story

Founded on a straightforward observation

Pulau Systems was formed in 2018 by a small group of operations and technology advisors who had worked with mid-sized companies for years. When we began spending more time with smaller businesses — the retailers, tradespeople, and neighbourhood offices that make up so much of Singapore's commercial life — we noticed something that bothered us.

Many of these owners already knew that certain tools existed. What they lacked was someone willing to sit with them, look at their actual routines, and say honestly: "this one would help, this one wouldn't, and these three aren't worth the effort."

So that became our work. Not selling technology, not running implementations for their own sake — just providing a clear, considered view of where a little well-chosen assistance could save time, reduce friction, or give an owner back an evening.

We believe the best technology change inside a small business is the kind that the owner can explain to their staff, understand themselves, and adjust as things evolve. We do not favour complexity for its own sake.

Our method begins with listening. We spend time learning how your business actually operates before suggesting anything. Often the most useful outcome of our first session is a clear picture of what is working well and should not be disturbed.

When we do recommend a tool or connection, we support it fully — through setup, testing, staff handover, and the quieter period afterwards when questions tend to surface.

Our Standards

How we ensure the work is done well

Scoped in writing

Every engagement has a written scope document agreed by both parties before any work begins. Changes to scope are discussed openly.

Data handled carefully

We handle client information with care and in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act. We do not share client data with third parties.

Tested before handover

Every setup is tested in realistic conditions before a client is asked to rely on it. We do not consider work complete until it has run correctly under normal load.

Staff prepared properly

Walkthroughs are included in our setup scope. If the people using the tools do not feel confident, the work is not done.

Reviewed regularly

On ongoing plans, we check in quarterly with a plain-language report. We look for what is working, what has drifted, and what might need attention next.

Weekday support access

Support plan clients can reach us on weekdays by email or phone. We respond the same day where possible, and always within one business day.

Our Background

Working with Singapore small businesses since 2018

Pulau Systems operates from Tampines and works with businesses across Singapore — from shophouse retailers in Tiong Bahru to trades contractors in the west, and small professional offices throughout the central business district. Our client base is deliberately modest in scale; we work with fewer clients than we could in order to give each engagement genuine attention.

Our advisors have backgrounds in operations management, workflow design, and business process documentation. This combination means we approach technology from a practical standpoint — the question we always ask is whether a tool genuinely reduces effort or creates it.

Over seven years, we have helped businesses in retail, food service, property management, education tuition, maintenance trades, and professional services. The common thread is not industry but size: teams of two to fifteen people where the owner is still closely involved in day-to-day decisions.

We are familiar with the software landscape that Singapore small businesses typically use — accounting platforms, local appointment systems, messaging tools, and the various administrative layers that come with operating under ACRA registration, GST compliance, and local payroll requirements.
